In many countries, the existing mapping that is available is either obsolete or at inappropriate scales for development. This poses a problem for organizations that require up to date information prior to commencement of activities in the field.

Fugro Geodetic Ltd. offer a low-cost solution to the problem by developing Raster Maps of the areas of interest, using Satellite Imagery as the basis for such products.

Typically, 'true colour' maps at scale 1:25,000 may be quickly produced using Landsat 7 multi-spectral and IRS-1C 5.8 metre Pan. The ortho-rectified product is a Pan-sharpened colour image with 5 or 6 metre resolution.

Much larger scales of mapping may be produced using commercially available 1 metre imagery e.g. IKONOS as the raw data sets.
